 Greetings friends!  Looks like I have time for just one more post before I leave town today.  So I wanted to brag a little--here are a couple of badges I won this week for cards you have seen this past week:

It looks like the health situation I have been traveling out of town to assist with is coming to a crisis pretty soon, so I don't know when I'll be able to make another card.  My priority is elsewhere right now.  But I'm sure I'll be back when the time is right--thank you for all of your good wishes which many of you have sent my way!

WMSC105 and CR84FN58

 Hi folks!  This is most likely my last card before leaving town again this weekend, so I tried to make it a good one.  I'll leave that judgement to posterity!  Anyway, I did it for the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge WMSC105 as well as the CR84FN58 (red, yellow, neutral) color challenge.  I always love combinations of red and yellow--they are so cheerful!  Here is the card:

I used Waltzingmouse sets French Country, Chicken Wire, and Off Beat Backgrounds.  The Chicken Wire was stamped with Versamark on glossy white cardstock then colored all over with Wild Honey distress ink (the Versamark acts as a resist).  Trimmed the piece and mounted on SU Real Red cardstock, then added a small checked panel stamped in Barn Door distress ink.  The rooster was also stamped in Barn Door.  The red panel was die cut (Spellbinders Labels 18) from Real Red and embellished with yellow dots using a Sakura Souffle opaque pen.  The button was generously supplied by the Mousetress herself, Claire Brennan (thanks again!).  The sentiment came from a little Inky Antics set called Simple Sentiments.  Inside the card it says "because you can never have too many!"  I really liked that.  There is another one that goes with it that says "you can return it if you like."  Isn't that cute?  A few bits of red/white baker's twine finish off the card.

Make It Monday 73 and CR84FN 57

 Hello all!  Yet another "thinking of you" type card from me--boy am I glad I bought PTI's Healing Touch Sentiments set, I'm really getting a lot of mileage out of it.  I did this one for the Make It Monday 73 challenge (stamping on patterned paper) and the CR84FN57 challenge (bright pink, tan and neutral).

The patterned paper used for the rose (from PTI's Year Of Flowers: Rose set) is from the 2009 Text Style Bitty Dot Basics collection, and the background tan paper is from DCWV's Linen Closet stack.  The leaves (from PTI's Turning A New Leaf) were stamped in Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I shaded the flower with Copic markers, and added a touch to the leaves with a Sakura Clear Star glitter pen.  And yes, Lisa, I finally tracked down that lace at my local HL--thanks for the tip!  Tiny pearls finish the card.

Dynamic Duos 9 and CleanAndSimpleStamping 197

 Greetings folks!  Here is another "feel better" card from me (I'm getting to be an expert I think), this time using the sketch from CleanAndSimpleStamping 197 and the colors of Dynamic Duo 9.

I chose a teal color for my second shade.  I don't actually own any Crumb Cake in my stash, so I made do with the caramel color in the patterned paper, and the Frayed Burlap distress ink on the center panel.  The patterned paper came from K & Co (TC Travel).  Before distressing, the white card stock was cut with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles - LG die;  after distressing it was matted with Taken With Teal card stock.  The sentiment came from PTI's Healing Touch Sentiments set.  The nautical embellishments were made using my computerized cutter (Roland GX-24), using cut files that came on a CD with the cutter--I just resized them smaller and colored the cut pieces with Broken China distress ink.  After the ink dried I game them a coat of Glossy Accents to give them dimension.  I guess this is not really in the spirit of CAS since it took a while to do it.  But I like the finished result.

CleanAndSimple 196 and Dynamic Duos 8

 Hello friends!  I didn't think I was going to be able to do a Dynamic Duos card this week since I don't happen to have any River Rock and none of my Copics match it.  But, lo and behold, I managed to turn up something, using the sketch from CleanAndSimpleStamping 196:

I made some custom postage stamps using an unmounted rubber postage outline stamp I've had for years (no idea who made it!) and a butterfly from PTI's Butterfly Dreams.  The stamping is in SU Always Artichoke, the interior of the stamp was masked off and distressed with Antique Linen Distress ink (which looks very much like River Rock on this Very Vanilla card stock), and the butterflies were touched up with Sakura glitter pen.  Then each stamp was trimmed with postage-edge scissors, mounted on Always Artichoke card stock and placed on a piece of patterned paper from DCWV's Safari Chic stack--I thought that looked like River Rock as well.  The sentiment strip was also trimmed with the stamp scissors and matted.  The diamond shape buttons are vintage mother of pearl, given to me by my mother.  But she is getting the card back, so it's all good.  The sentiment came from a Hero Arts sentiment set (doesn't seem to have a name, but I highly recommend the set--there are some very nice sentiments in it).

Play Date Cafe #137

 Hello people!  Here's a quick card that I hope I'm not too late to enter into the Play Date Cafe #137 challenge (black & white with a splash of blue).  That color combo called out to me when I first saw it and I knew I just had to try it.  Here is the card:

I'm using all Waltzingmouse stamps on this card:  Say It Loud (sentiment) and Dainty Doilies 2.  The two doily motifs were stamped at the top and bottom of the card and embossed with black detail embossing powder, then colored in with a Copic marker.  Two sizes of black pearls (Recollections) were added.  The sentiment was stamped in white craft ink on SU Brilliant Blue card stock, then embossed with white embossing powder.  The top and bottom edges of the panel are covered with a length of black sequin ribbon, just for a splash of shine (which unfortunately doesn't show in this photo).

PTI June Blog Hop and MIM 72

 Hi folks!  I held off making a card for this month's PTI June blog hop until seeing today's Make It Monday video, in case I could combine the two challenges.  I'm glad I did!  Using the colors of the blog hop inspiration photo, I made embellishments for this card, a la Dawn McVey:

The supplies I used came mostly from PTI:  Text Style 2009 Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper, Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart card stock, Edgers #1 die, Turning A New Leaf die, Flower Fusion #7 stamps & die, and Movers & Shakers Sentiments stamps.  Other supplies used were SU inks (Garden Green, Black), K & Co Ancestry patterned paper, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Squares die, QuicKutz border die, Jolee's Jewels, and yellow ribbon.  Many of the elements are popped up on dots.  The die cuts from the Turning A New Leaf die were trimmed down to individual leaves and layered behind the flower die cut.
